In Minor Keys

But the search continues. In minor keys.

Minor keys have always inherently appealed to me. As I've arranged The Perpetual Playlist it's struck me that the story is forming itself to be somewhat dark, which is due in large part to the predominantly minor-key-driven pieces. And yet, if you listen carefully, there are reprieves from the brutal narrative.

When I wrote poetry, it was imbued with that same tone. Many of the poems I wrote would have been music in a minor key. They were dark, brooding things; searching for profound truths in iambic cadences.

Now instead of poetry, I have a piano. And the pieces are often driven by minor keys; searching for profound truths in 4/4 time.

I'm not a dramatic or moody person. But the search continues. In minor keys.
