Degrees of Separation: Six Apart

Six Apart is a company with savvy people, great ideas, and well-designed applications.

I was pleasantly surprised this evening when I spoke with a good friend of mine who mentioned the strong possibility of going to work full-time for Six Apart in San Francisco.

Based on my experiences as a user of Movable Type over the past four years, Six Apart is a company with savvy people, great ideas, and (perhaps most importantly) well-designed applications. As an additional plus, they seem to possess rare qualities in an internet startup: profitability & focus on an actual business model.

The revelation makes the world a smaller place; the application I've used for such a long time will undoubtedly gain from the talented & intelligent contributions of my friend, who in turn was kind enough this evening to acknowledge referencing some techniques used in the source CSS of doodlemonger.com in the process of streamlining the sixapart.com corporate web presence. I appreciated the nod, and mused briefly on the myriad human networks involved to connect me to what was only yesterday a remote and disconnected organization.

I'm excited for him and look forward to the products and services he will help create and improve. I've long used Movable Type and now I can say I know someone "on the inside."
