Go: Clarity in Defeat
With each loss I would like to consider the gulf narrowing...
I've now lost nearly a dozen consecutive games of go, with but a single sneaking victory in the past month or more. But the losses are not bitter; the ebb and flow of my concentration brings me sometimes closer, sometimes disturbingly further away. And yet, with each loss I would like to consider the gulf narrowing, the intellect sharpening, the strategy and foresight clarifying.
Oftentimes this is not so, but there are moments of clarity that make the more abundant defeat and labored shortsightedness wither and fade. It is these moments of clairvoyance that make the game what it is for me: a rewarding exercise of balance, intellect, concentration and strategy.
