Nuke 'em. Just nuke 'em.
Why don't we try to destroy tropical cyclones by nuking them?
Apparently, enough people have asked the question: "Why don't we try to destroy tropical cyclones by nuking them?" that the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) has had to make an entry into their FAQ to explain just why this might not be a good idea.
Do they mean to suggest that detonating nuclear weapons can't be used to affect the world's atmosphere for the better? I just watched The Core last night and, by God, I've learned that such things are indeed possible.
(Lingering quote from the movie, spoken by the nerdish hacker character whilst jumping up, hands raised in a victorious cheer, with what can only be described as orgasmic joy: "The planet is healing itself!" I knew there was a reason I didn't watch this movie in the theater.)
