Chabon's Lost Epic

I imagine Chabon in front of his computer, writing the bit about the only copy of Grady Tripp's monstrosity of a novel blowing away in the wind with a huge smile on his face...

It seems a great deal of the sentiments of the main character of Michael Chabon's novel Wonder Boys regarding his large, unwieldy novel without any hope of a conclusion stem from Chabon's real-life struggle with a failed attempt at an epic novel of sorts entitled Fountain City.

I imagine Chabon in front of his computer, writing the bit about the only copy of Grady Tripp's monstrosity of a novel blowing away in the wind with a huge smile on his face, while his very own five year wandering attempt at an epic waned quietly in a drawer, gathering dust and scorn, blown away by a six week venture in another direction.
