Einaudi

I listen, and smile, and am at peace.

I am profoundly inspired.

I forget, then return to listen to the musical thoughts of a modern Italian master of melody. I am again in love with the piano.

I am presently listening to "I Giorni" (Italian for "The Days"). It's creator, Ludovico Einaudi, has a subtle power of composition and playing style that hauntingly echoes the emotional weight and mastery of Beethoven's more pensive piano pieces. The melodies are simple and elegant, striking and lucid in their minimalistic flow. This is the second album of his that I've fallen in love with, the first being "Le Onde" ("The Waves").

I listen, and smile, and am at peace.

Life is too short to listen to popular music.
